Twilight Ku

across the lake
a breeze blows
twilight into night

~

soft rain at dusk
then street lights
smudge the fog

~

daytime shadows
wait under a tree –
stretch into the night

~

sky dims –
the marsh puts
a good noise on

Quite haunting! The image of daytime shadows
wait under a tree –
stretch into the night
is especially "dark".

I like the delicious crepy feeling of shadows waiting under a tree.

In fact...

In my mirror, they lie
Waiting for the darker hours
Ready to stretch, eat:
The shadows gnashing their teeth
Lurking, just outside vision.

I love the image of the breeze blowing the day away. I imagine the breeze stepping back to let in those marsh noises.

your last verse...i am loving that right now as we near spring & the "peepers" are tuning up at twilight

This is a nice 'daisy chain' of poetic images (or at least it seems so to me) on the prompt. Enjoyed them all!

Lovely! The breeze blowing away the day, and the marsh coming to life at that time are stand outs for me. Thank you
